Being Thankful

Colossians 3:15-17
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

When life gets difficult, when we're too caught up in the busyness of our lives, when we are totally into ourselves... we tend to neglect to see God and what he has already provided for us. Instead we look at what he hasn't given us, and complain. We complain because we feel we know what's best, but in reality our a sovereign God is in all places and at all times.

Each and everyday is a blessing from God. Most of us have livs away from the Lord and don't realize he's taking care of you and providing for you all the time. But yet we still complain of what we don't have.

Brothers and sisters, take some time to think.... How has God taken caer of you?

Questions to Think About:
1. What are you thankful for and why?
2. Why does God provide so much for us?
3. Why do we only see what God doesn't provide?
4. How can you show your thanksgiving to God?

1) I'm thankful for...
Today: b/c I was able to live another day safely and happily.
- My Family: b/c I don't deserve wonderful people like them in my life that'll always support me and care for me.
- My Friends: b/c they accept me for who I am and even love my flaws...hopefully^^;
- School: b/c some kids in third-world countries can't even afford an education, but I receive it for free.
- Church: b/c I can freely worship and learn about God without being persecuted.
- Food: b/c I can nourish my body on a daily basis without any worries.
- Music: b/c it entertains me or calms me down.
- Health: b/c I'm very healthy compared to others who are struggling to live every single day of their lives.
- Struggles: b/c no matter how much it may bring me down, I always learn a wonderful lesson from struggles.
- & So much more...

2) God provides so much for us because He loves us dearly. We have been accepted into His family, and He wants to give us as much as He can (= But we all fail to realize that...

3) As humans, we are so used to counting our problems all the time. We take everything that God provides for us for granted, so we ignore the numerous blessings that He provides for us. We're also greedy as sinners, so we're always thirsting for more things rather than being content with what we already have.

4) I can show my thanksgiving to God by counting my blessings -- not my problems. I can also show it by spreading what I have to others so that they can see how wonderful our God is (= It can be a way of evangelizing to bring more family members into our huge family under God. Another way is to constantly thank him through prayer and not taking things for granted.
